If you're after something more active then Aerial Extreme in Bedale and Adrenalin North Yorkshire are worth a visit. To explore the culture of the area one can step back in time at the family home of the Bronte sisters at the Parsonage Museum in Haworth.

For more history a trip to Leeds will offer you displays at the Royal Armouries and possibly a real jousting tournament. Alternatively at the Fountains Abbey near to Ripon you can still see the monastic history of its glory.
