Even better than we hoped for, the property is beautifully presented, I wanted to walk on the Dales Way and this was well placed. We looked for somewhere quiet and off the beaten track, cottage was perfect. Would definitely book again. Only downside? No public transport or local taxis, so you will need a car if you want to go anywhere apart from relax locally, which is what we wanted to do.
We took our 2 dogs here at the end of September for a week and had a relaxing time in a lovely cottage. It has everything you need and they leave you milk, tea and biscuits which is a lovely touch. To wake up each morning to this remote beautiful place is great. Stream at the end of the garden. Garden is enclosed though for dogs which is helpful. We went many walks from here and it is the best area around for scenery. Take everything with you as shops are a drive away. No mobile signal but a phone box for emergencies, Wifi signal good. Would definitely return.
One or two slight disappointments to begin with. Overall the cottage was quite basic, the furniture and fittings a little tired, and the bed was not comfortable. In fact, it was the most uncomfortable bed I can remember sleeping on, with a soft old mattress which probably needs to be replaced. However, the cottage is located a long way from “civilisation”, in attractive surroundings, on a very quiet road. And there are some very enjoyable walks nearby, a couple right from the door. The general area is beautiful. The cottage has all the basic amenities, with wifi, good fridge, separate freezer, freesat TV. The garden is next to the stream and it is pleasant to sit there watching the wildlife, although the views more generally from the cottage are quite limited. Overall we enjoyed our week’s stay.
