Great holiday cottage in the centre of Matlock Bath, walking distance to a range of pubs, railway station and attractions. Situated in quiet mews you get the best of both worlds. No distance at all to the moors, Chatsworth and the historic mills. The house is warm and cosy, modern and very family friendly. Would use as a base again if visiting the area.
We have just returned from a fantastic week in the peak district, enjoying some of the only sunny weather to hit the UK in June and staying at the most fantastically appointed house in the gorgeous town of Matlock Bath. The house we stayed in is ideally positioned to see the best of this small historic town. The house itself is luxurious, spacious and a joy to relax in. My and my partner have holidayed in 5 cottages throughout the UK over the past few years and this is by far the best we've stayed in. The main living area is L-shaped and is a combined kitchen, dining and living room space. It measures approximately 23 ft by 19 ft. All of the fitments are of the highest quality and the rooms are immaculately clean. The small patio area was ideal for the three of us to sit and enjoy the fine Derbyshire weather and the way the Mews is arranged gave us a good deal of privacy whilst being only seconds away from the shops. There is a great selection of Dvds and games for times when the weather turns English and the owners have provided a whole basketful of fliers and ideas for where to visit. The en-suite shower/wetroom for the downstairs double bedroom feels indulgent and the upstairs bathroom, which services the double/twin and the single/twin, is beautifully light and airy, even despite the dorma windows. Our only concern was for parking - for some of the week we had two cars with us and only one space is provided - the town though provides free parking for 1 hour between 8am and 6pm which effectively means parking from 5pm at night through to 9am in the morning - perfectly adequate if you're using the car to explore Derbyshire. We absolutely loved this place and were sad when the time came to say goodbye to it.
A very good holiday home. Very clean, well equipped, good position to tour round the lovely countryside and visit all the NT properties. Great to have two ensuites.
Clean, spacious and very well equipped house. Quiet location away from main street. Plenty of good cafes, takeaways and restaurants nearby. Easy to get to places of interest nearby. Friendly and helpful owner.
The cottage was so light and airy!Everything you could need for preparing meals was in the kitchen -plus a dishwasher! My 2 longtime school friends and I really enjoyed relaxing in one separate bedroom each. When they went home after finishing their weekend, my husband joined me to for the rest of the week. The master bedroom is all by itself on the lowest floor, and completely private - with its own wet room. We all loved how close it was to the town centre, and thoroughly recommend the curry house on the corner of the street. The only bit I didn't like was trying to park my car in the tight space at the front of the property, which was up a steep incline. I used my car parking token to go over to the railway station and park the car there. Out and about, the open air swimming pool at Hathersage was great fun, as was climbing the rocks at Surprise View, close to Hathersage. The Richard arkwright Cotton Mill museum around the corner from Matlock was totally absorbing- then we went next door to spend money at the Masson Mills store.
We came to stay here in August for a weeks holiday with family. The accommodation was situated well. It was only a few seconds walk down to the main road but far enough away so it was nice a quiet. The accommodation was clean and spacious. The kitchen was really well equipped for self catering, with everything you could need on hand: eg: grater, salad spinner etc. The welcome teas, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits was a really nice touch. Tea towels and towels were provided. Will definitely be recommending to others and will stay again in the future.
