My wife and I had had fled Norway to celebrate her 50 years birthday away from the daily hustle and bustle. We found Squirrel Cottage on the web, and got a romantic and cosy place to stay for a week. This little end-cottage has every thing a man need, and close to everything a woman needs :-) It is amazing what they have managed to fit into the little place there is, the kitchen is not big, but works well for two. The living room feels a lot bigger than it is, and is such a cosy place to stay!! The bedroom has a VERY good huge bed (and my old back have not liked all British beds it have tried through the years!) and the good sized bath is a place to enjoy. A huge bath tube almost begs you to relax there with a good book. The shower head was a bit low for to tall Norwegian, I guess it is about 1,75 meter above the bath tube, and requried a little knee bending for us. But there is a hand held shower with very good water preasure that you can use as an alternative. This is a place with soul! And my wife says, as I have no idea about such things, that there has been a person with good taste that has decorated it. There is also a little "garden" at the back, with a garden table and chairs, perfect for breakfasts. And there is a yoga hut that seems like a nice hideout in the back of the garden. I am however famous for being the least alternative person in the world, and we liked the cottage itself so much, so we never tried it. There is parking at the road. We had a couple of days were we couldn't find any vacant spots, and had to park at the parking at the other side of the river. It is just 50 p. over night, and a short stroll away, so no big problem. I guess the weekends is the worst, on weekdays was it no problem. It was no TV signals in the cottage, but a free Netflix and fast WIFI. And if you go here for the TV, you'd better stay home and save the money! The owners were also very kind and flexible when we spent too much time on the way on arrival day, and arrived late. The village is a great place to stay to explore one of the prettiest parts of Britain, and to walk some of the best mountains in Britain. And this cottage is a great choice for a couple to visit. Whatever the reason for the visit is.
Well kept cottage in the beautiful town of Betsw Y Coed. The cottage itself was quirky and unique, with all the upto date facilities a small family like ours could need. We stayed for a week - myself, my partner, 5 month old daughter and dog; it was a perfect size for the four of us. Upon collecting the keys we were met in a friendly manner, given spot on directions to the cottage and told to message if we had any problems. The little touches left by the owner put a smile on our faces and the Bara Brith hit the spot after a long trip up! Even the dog loved her biscuits! Already recommended to friends and some have booked to stay soon. Hope to stay again!
