When I was a young boy in the sixties I lived in house almost identical in layout, but without the excellent and tasteful fittings and furniture the owners have installed . Unlike many holiday accommodation's they have not opted for old cast offs and jumble sale tat, but bought new quality items, the kitchen is well appointed and the bathroom and shower is better than most quality hotels, the living room with log burning fire and leather furniture is warm and very comfortable. Altogether a great place and location to enjoy time in Whitby, very well done and thank you to the owners. My only adverse comments, the parking is as advertised "first come first served" but not insurmountable and there is no internet, but the house still won out.

Superb accommodation Close to all amenities!

Lovely home with many features. The cosy lounge with wood burner must be great in the winter months. The lounge is well appointed with a leather suite, TV + add on`s and original wood floors. The dining room is spacious with a dining table that could seat eight people. We liked having access to a wide range of books/Dvd's and games that were all accessible in this room. Information about the home and an `Out and about` guide was extremely useful. The well designed kitchen was fully equipped and easy to use. The quality of the utensils/crockery was pleasing. We ate out on the back patio most breakfast times...what a sun trap! On the next floor was a huge bathroom with complimentary toiletries which covered all your needs. The shower was powerful and free standing bath had a quaint traditional feel, but again was huge. Again this had such a homely feel. The double bedroom was gorgeous with a four poster bed. It was so comfortable we did not want to get up in the morning. Wardrobe was spacious, which in some holiday homes can be limited. On the second floor there are two more bedrooms, a double bedroom and room with single beds. Both rooms were lovely. We could have walked in this home with nothing but a suitcase of clothes...everything else was taken care of. Already booked for next year with the family. it really is a `not so little` gem! Whitby was full of historical sites, lovely restaurants and spectacular scenery, particularly on the coastal walk to Robin Hoods Bay. Now we have found such a wonderful place to stay it will ensure we return more often than first intended.

Faultless

Easy, friendly and efficient booking service via the Sykes team. 1st experience of using them and would definitely use again. Rockton house was well situated with supermarket 5 minutes walk away (but steep uphill return for those with poor fitness or disability) Delightful house, spotlessly clean and very well equpped. Loved the deep bathtub and the woodburner. Faultless
