A magical escape from city life

The tranquil setting of alnmouth was truly spectacular being so close to the beach. Our party of 12 including Morag our dog had a special weekend. With the weather being fine and dry we couldn't have asked for better. The old post office was everything we were looking for and more. The luxury of the wood burners to the games room downstairs suited old and young alike. I would totally recommend this property and location and will hopefully return in the future.

Lovely house in a fabulous area

The Old Post Office is an excellent place to stay when you are travelling with two families. The game room with table tennis table and Wifi were much appreciated. We loved the beach that was closeby and the restaurant/pub next door served wonderful food when we opted not to use the very well equipped kitchen. Gracious hosts had a bottle of wine and homemade brownies waiting for us when we arrived. A lot to do and see in the area. Overall a great destination for a short break!

Missed the mark

We stayed there as a family of 9. The house is nice, and in a nice location but did not meet our expectations for the money. Parts of it are quite tired ( this is our third house rental in Alnmouth). It is comfortable and reasonably well appointed, however it does miss the mark, here are a few examples: - No welcome pack ( it is the only house I the last five years where we have experienced that), small cost but huge equity. - The Cooker was faulty with a note telling us so. - In the master bedroom we found a three quarters drunk coke bottle and dirty cutlery under the bed. Also in this room the windows were dirty on the inside. - One of the sofas needed shampooing. - The rear passage door was caked in bird dung, despite that being the recommend entry to use on a daily basis in the instructions. - Only one complete set of keys between 9 of us. Would we return - sadly no, a little extra effort would have made all the difference between this and a glowing review.
