My husband and I along with our dog Nuala enjoyed a short break here back in March. It's a lovely comfy house, warm and cosy, spotlessly clean on arrival and with every facility you could want. Would have liked to stay longer and I'd highly recommend this property.
We booked this cottage for September 2014 at the beginning of the year from Sykes Cottages as we had used them before. The location was perfect for us On first impressions it looked fantastic but after a few hours we found that there was no windows downstairs at all. The weather was hot as we were having an "Indian Summer". There are 2 heavy glass doors which are advertised as picture windows in the kitchen and lounge. They look lovely but were useless as they would not open, the frames needed repair because of the weight of the doors . Hence, I was not able to cook. Upstairs, there was no jacuzzi bath as advertised----one of the reasons we booked this cottage. My main worry was that there was no fire escape except for the downstairs front door. The large window in the upstairs bathroom was locked due to faulty handle. We were never contacted by the owners. We left before the week was over. We've 'put it behind us now' and down to experience. I have had no feedback from Sykes and don't expect any either. We won't be booking with them again.
This cottage is ideal for visiting the local area and is in a lovely peaceful village. Very well equipt and clean throughout with all utensils, towels etc provided. Two double bedded rooms, en suite (1 with shower, 1 bath) with lots of space and storage. Definitely recommend considering the value for money.
A book about the history of Led Zepplin in the bathroom, a good start. Clean comfortable and in a great location with views from the garden. Bedrooms really comfortable both with en-suite, great shower in one bedroom large bath in the other (no Jacuzzi). Really comfy sitting room with Sky TV on large screen. Well equipped modern kitchen. Next door to the cottage is a very good restaurant, deli that you have to try. All in all really enjoyable will be back. Steve
Such a shame as it wouldn't take much to make this cottage superb. We stayed with our friends and it appealed to us because of the layout of 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The main faults were : no opening window/door in the lounge, which would have been a nightmare in the summer. Large floor to ceiling window in the main bathroom also broken and wouldn't open, also had no blind so no privacy at night and the extractor fan was broken. No proper light in the other bathroom just a lighted mirror. Lots of the bulbs were blown and none of the fancy lighting in the kitchen was working. No bath mats. The garden was not as described and the cottage was not as clean as it should be. All of these things could be easily sorted but the main concern is that the windows and doors that are faulty present a real danger in case of fire. The cottage was great for our Labrador and the village was lovely with a nice field by the village hall where we could let the dog run off lead. We had a good meal at the Emlyn Arms one evening too. Steak and sweet for £10. I was surprised to note that the problem with the windows and doors was also noted by a reviewer in 2014 and that nothing has been done about it. I would be reluctant to book with Sykes again because of this.
