This was a truely amazing cottage . Set in the middle of no where with breath taking views . Wild birds were in their abundance and we had a visit from three deer on the back lawn area and endless red squirrels visited the feeders to the front of the cottage . If peace and tranquility with the smell of a log fire is what your looking for then this is the place for you . There is every utensil needed in the kitchen and endless games and DVDs to play and watch . Only downfall for us was the expense as we stayed over the new year , however , these are the sort of prices new year breaks attract and we hope to return in the future .

Excellent accommodation in rural location

Before writing this review I was tempted to say nothing at all about this gem of a cottage, albeit, purely for selfish reasons - I wanted to keep the place a secret! Myrtle Cottage is without doubt one of the best places that I have stayed during my various stays in the Cairngorms. Its abundance of wildlife, including the Red Squirrels and the elusive Pine Martin, were an absolute delight. The owners, Phil and Jenny, were great, as was the welcome cake and bottle of wine that I received - thank you! My dog Edwin, a Miniature Schnauzer, thought the place was great too, in particular the woods that surrounds the cottage where we would take our walks each morning (certainly beats the noise of Manchester traffic!). The village of Tomintoul is about two miles away and has a pub and a small, but well equipped village shop. All in all a great week away and great value for money. Thank you again to the owners - as the saying goes, I'll be back!
