In a genuinely peaceful spot, high up overlooking the Cairngorm Mountains are two separate white-stoned cottages surrounded by open fields that offer a perfect getaway holiday. They are situated half a mile above the small village of Dulnain Bridge, just under ten minutes from the town of Grantown-on-Spey, famous for its salmon fishing and the start of the whisky distillery trail.
The cottages are centrally situated for exploring the whole of the Highlands, from Inverness in the north to Fort William in the west and the beautiful sandy beaches of Moray to the east. The local area has much to offer, including numerous sporting opportunities such as golf, mountainbiking, hillwalking, kayaking, swimming, climbing and cycling, as well as skiing and snowboarding in the winter. There is also a new sports centre in Grantown.
One of the cottages is an old shepherd's cottage which has been renovated in keeping with its original character and the other, more modern, has been individually designed. Both have their own gardens, to the front and rear, with a burn running below and there is much wild and birdlife close by. You can walk straight out of the cottage doors into the hills.
The cottages, which have seen many guest returning for over 20 years now, are very close to all the facilities in Grantown and Aviemore, including shops, restaurants and pubs, while Dulnain Bridge itself, just down the hill, has two hotels, a restaurant and a post office.
There are numerous walks within a short distance whether hill or forest, as well as bird watching opportunities, including the R.S.P.B. Osprey Centre at Boat of Garten.
The Strathspey Steam Railway, the Cairngorm funicular railway, the Landmark Adventure Centre, the Highland Wildlife Park, the Folk Museum and the Reindeer Centre are all very close, while Loch Ness and Culloden Battlefield are both a short drive away.
Both cottages offer warm, cosy sitting rooms with colour TV/DVD players and fully equipped kitchens with ovens, microwaves, fridges, washing machines, hairdryers, hot water bottles, irons and ironing boards. The newer cottage has double doors leading out from the lounge onto a patio and the front garden, while the older has a back door leading to a west facing private rear garden, which is a sun trap in the summer. Garden furniture is provided.
All bed and kitchen linen is included in the price.
We are open all year round and are happy to offer short breaks outside the peak weeks.
The cottages are both non-smoking and dogs are welcome.
