Tinsmiths Cottage- Peak District comfortably sleeps 4 but can accommodate up to 6 people.
Tinsmiths is a 1765 detached cottage which offers a relaxing and tranquil holiday setting away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The cottage acommodates 2 - 6 people and discounts are available for couples when peak period prices are showing!
Steeped in history and in the conservation area of derbyshire this beautiful cottage was once home to leadminers. It housed two families upstairs and animals downstairs and has been refurbished to a high standard without spoiling the immense charm of it's character.
A fully equipped modern kitchen leads through to an open plan dining room which seats 6 comfortably and boasts antique french imported pine furniture.
The upstairs lounge is both spacious amd cosy with two sumptous sofas, it overlooks the historic sough known locally as the bear pit. (see web-site for Sir Richard Arkwright.)
The two bedrooms sleep 2- 6, the spacious family room houses 4 single pine beds with tapestry divide for further privacy. An antique satin bedroom suite and 4 beautiful sunlit windows makes this room a joy. Bedroom 2 offers 2 sunlit windows, floral cottage decor and a double pine bed.
Tinsmiths Cottage boasts modern appliances and includes microwave, elec cooker, fridge, washing machine, CD player, Video, DVD etc and all crockery and linnen are provided free of charge. Outside there is a small courtyard with shrubs a bistro table and 2 chairs with room for a barbecue.
This quaint village is linked to Sir Richard Arkwright who built most of its cottages and mills and made his name here. His once planned to be home Willersly Castle overlooks the glorious countryside surrounding Cromford and yet sadly he never actually lived there.
Cromford is historically remembered for its tin mines and Sir Richard Arwright, it is rare to find a village that is as quaint and boasts so much history yet still retains a Butchers, Bakers, Chip-Shop, Newsagent, Post office and most other small convenience stores as well as lots of good public houses and a small restaurant renowned for its excellent food. Take a stroll around the millpond or browse in Scarthin bookstore just a few yards away from Tinsmiths. A little further down the road visit beautiful Cromford canal. Visit Chatsworth, Gullivers Kingdom, Bakewell, Matlock Bath, Carsington Water, Crich Tramway Museum and much more.
1 mile from Matlock Bath, easy access to Bakewell and Chatsworth
Natural springs and waterways run under the cottage and courtyard into the historic sough. The soothing cascade of water adds to the tranquil delights of the cottage. This is walking country so bring your boots, well behaved dogs are welcome.
