There are some great attractions in some wonderful surroundings here, fascinating history and heritage including the largest collection of Anglo Saxon gold ever found to world renowned china pottery from Stoke on Trent. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy the breath taking beauty of the Peak District National Park with the immense Gritstone Crags. You will find unspoilt old heath land at Cannock Chase to the calm flourishing woodlands at the National Forest. There are outstanding stately homes, castles and museums to visit and discover ancient history.

Leek is the main town in Staffordshire, on the Western Edge of the Peak District, famous for its cattle market and silk industry. The charming town centre is a hive of individual shops, cafes and award winning restaurants; you will also find art galleries and antique shops.

Trentham Monkey Forest, this is a very different experience for everyone and the only place in England where you can roam through 60 acres of forest with 140 Barbary Macaques. Watch the guides feed the monkeys hourly.

Snow Dome, Tamworth. The Snow Dome is a great family fun day out, experience snow play areas, ice skating rink and the amazing snow slopes which adults and children can enjoy together.

Sudbury Hall & Museum of Childhood, visit two totally different experiences sitting side by side. The Country house lets you see 17th century craftsmanship including wood carving, murals and delicate plasterwork. You will be astonished by the great staircase and long gallery.

The museum of Childhood is great for all age group, visit childhood times gone by, play dress up in chimney sweep and scullion outfits and watch archive films.

Rodbaston Visitor Centre Animal Zone, a chance to experience new animals from skunks to snakes. Meet the keepers, ask questions and during some animal encounters get the chance to stroke the animals. (Ring before travelling to make sure they are open!)

One of the most famous attractions being Alton Tower Theme Park, once the private stately home to the Earl of Shrewsbury, today it is the most visited theme park in the United Kingdom, you are guaranteed a day of fun, splashes and hair raising rides for all the family to enjoy and remember.

The traditional market town of Leek is a good place to be based in a self catering cottage with attractions and beautiful countryside all nearby. The town has a selection of restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops.

The small village of Alton which is on the doorstep of Alton Towers Theme Park is unique and stunning, surrounded by striking countryside, an ideal cottage location for walking or perhaps enjoying the thrills of Alton Towers!

Ashbourne is a colourful market town, step back in time as you walk through the medieval narrow alleys and streets; it is a brilliant base to discover this very popular region.   Take the time to browse the local gift shops and art galleries

The attractive village of Ipstones, lies on the western edge of the peak district between Leek and Ashbourne, with easy access to all of Staffordshire’s visitor attractions. The village has a post office, village shop and pub and is surrounded by superb walking country.
