In days gone by St Ives was known as an angling port, where families including mums and children made their living from catching the local herring, pilchards and mackerel. Today the port has a small amount of angling boats, the other boats are mainly pleasure cruises, offering a trip out along the coast line.

In nearby Marazion you will find a small island called St Michaels Mount which you can travel to by ferry or by foot, dependant on the high tide. Owned by the National trust, it offers lovely gardens, harbour and a castle dating back to medieval times.
