Located just a few yards from the beach, Coxswain's Cottage stands in an excellent location in the centre of Thorpeness, a delightful and popular seaside village on the East Suffolk Heritage Coastline, an area counted amongst the finest for wildlife, landscape, and historic interest in the country. The village remains true to its Edwardian ideals of summer tennis, golf and sailing.

The facilities are exceptional as is the village's picturesque postion on the heathland and surrounding coastline.

A little over a mile along the coast from Aldeburgh, Thorpeness offers a wide range of high quality sports and leisure activities. It is within an easy drive of the RSPB Reserve at Minsmere and of the famous Maltings Concert Hall at Snape and within the village, there is sailing on the Meare, golfing on the James Braid designed Thorpeness golf course and tennis at the Country Club. The Aldeburgh Yacht Club offers stimulating sailing on the rivers Alde and Ore, and Aldeburgh golf course provides a level of quality and challenge that is expected from a course ranked by a leading golf magazine as one of the top 100 courses in the UK.

Coxswains Cottage provides very comfortable accommodation for 4 people. The lounge has flat screen TV/DVD, stereo and 2 sofas,The kitchen/Dining room has a beautiful hand made kitchen with granite worktops and is very well equipped with gas oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge, as well as ample china, crockery etc. For dining there is a table and chairs which comfortably seats four people.

Going up the right hand original cottage staircase there is a bedroom with king sized bed (with a Vi-Spring Mattress), bedside tables, wardrobe and lamps. The bathroom has bath with shower over, basin and w.c.

From the left hand staircase there is bedroom 2, which has twin VI-Spring divan beds. This room also has a wardrobe,bedside-table,lamps, mirror and easy chair. The second bathroom is a mirror of the first but has a washing machine and tumble drier in the former airing cupboard.

There is a garden at the front where one can sit and watch the world go by, or watch the hours pass on the newly installed sun-dial (see photo),at the rear is a courtyard with table, chairs and bench.
Duvet, pillows, bath and hand towels, and bed linen are provided.
Parking is on the road outside the cottage, in the summer it can be little busy but a space can usually be found.
There is a very good village store (listed as one of Rick Steins food heroes)
and there are plenty of shops in either Aldebugh or Leiston. Cycle hire is available from the Meare shop just over the road or if you're feeling lazy electric bike hire is available from Aldeburgh or from  Thorpeness Country Club!

During July and August it is possible to also use the third bedroom with 2 single beds for an extra £100 per week. This room is only suitable for children. It has 2 single beds (both with VI-Spring mattresses, wardrobe. chair and bedside table).
