The Rhone valley stretches down from the city of Lyon to just north of Orange in Provence, the wine growing areas is split in to two parts, the north produces full bodied red wines and the south is famed for its Chateaneauf de Pape. Lyon and the Rhone valley also serve as the gateway to the Alps, the huge mountain range that is distributed over France, Italy and Switzerland and contains Mont Blanc the highest mountain in Europe. In the Summer the areas close proximity to the Alps opens up the possibility of hiking, rock climbing and canyoning, cycling and hand gliding. It is also a paradise for nature lovers, Rhone is a picturesque region with pasture land, rivers, lakes and gorges in the north and towards the alps, growing drier and more Mediterranean as you move South. 

<p>Lyon;The countrys second largest city is also Frances beloved food capital. Off the path from most interaries , Lyon thrives with resturants, specialilty food markest and shops, it has an acient silk weaving heritage that gave this Rhone perched city its unique design.</p>
<p>Beaujolas;This compact hilly and prosperus wine producing wine region id bereft of agricultural granduer, though it boasts plenty of charming vineyard cottages, small castles and a commercial centre.</p>
<p>Ardeche; Hometo the grand Canyon of France, this jagged highland area is seperated into two regions, the toursity gorge filled South and the less touristy North, where tiny hamlets, old world shepherds and hill trekking abound.</p>
<p>Valance:Once a former Roman colony this fruit and vegatable market town is filled with odd ball sights like the 11<sup>th</sup> century castle where pope pius vi died, Frances oldest gun powder factory and the univercity stomping ground of litery hero Rabelais.</p>
<p>Vienne:The Gallo-Roman city turned wine centre is the southern most Burgundian town. It has pleny of roman ruins to explore, jazz festivals and one of Frances leading eateries La Pyramide</p>
<p>Pergouges;This perfectly preserved medieval village-replate with cobble stones and half tomber filled lanes has been the setting for many a French period film and remailns a Summer mecca for day trippers.</p>
<p>Annecy;Has its own lake, a mountain expance of glittering water, paddle steamers and cruisers shuttle along its shorelinecalling in at lakeside villages. Windsurf and yaght sails specke its surface, while grand chateux and the towns 12<sup>th</sup> century castle rise above it. With a maze of cobbled streets, medieval arcades and flower decked quays and bridges that date back to the days where counts of Geneva held sway here. Every Sunday morning streets fill for the Sunday Market.</p>
<p>Montelimar;If you didnt know if before you’ll soon pick it up what makes the town of Montelimar tick, Nougat. Shops and signs everywhere proclaim the glory of the stuff, which has been made here for centuries. The vielle ville is made up of narrow lanes that radiate out from the main street, rue pierre-julien, which runs from the one remaining medieval gateway on the 19<sup>th</sup> centurey ring of boulevards at place st-Martin, south past the church of Sainte –Croix.</p>
<p>Romans;Close to Valence this small town is famous all round France for its shoes industry. It has plenty of beautiful old streets and buildings to admire and its region has several gastronomic specialities.</p>
<p>Vals les Bains;This charming spa town is located between the Ardeches mountains and gorges with the advatages of a med tclimate in fresh air.</p>
