Set in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside, in a beautiful cider orchard, surrounded by fields, farms and (best of all) fresh air, you’ll find a traditional cottage that offers everything you need for a family holiday that will be remembered fondly for years to come.

Peaceful Cottage lies in the Wye Valley, close to the Golden Valley, Hay-on-Wye and the cathedral city of Hereford. The cottage has been recently renovated and is fully equipped with everything you need to self cater, but does not lose its country charm.

The cottage is set within the orchard of a working (mostly arable) Hereford farm that produces perry pears, cider apples, wheat, oil seed rape and potatoes in its rich, fertile soil. You will also find a small herd of Pedigree Hereford cattle grazing beneath the apple tree canopies. The cottage is managed by the Johnson family who run the farm and live there with their young children.

Peaceful Cottage is surrounded by numerous public footpaths that cross the farm and one of which leads to the River Wye. A short farm walk has also been created for guests to view the Pedigree cattle and to obtain fresh eggs and logs for the wood burner. Peaceful Cottage is a truly rural experience!

Herefordshire offers a range of brilliant activities and interesting places to visit and explore. It is a county steeped in history with beautiful Black and White Timber Villages, bustling Market Towns, ancient castles and the Cathedral housing the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library.

For the more adventurous there are water sports to enjoy on the river, horse riding, cycling, climbing as well as two centres providing mountain boarding facilities. There are many opportunities for fishing locally on the River Wye (day tickets can be purchased) as well as there being a selection of pools only a couple of miles away.

Herefordians are proud of their cider and you can visit several cider mills in the area (to taste the local wares) as well visiting the Cider Museum in Hereford.

There are Farmshops and Farmparks all over this rural county which are popular with the young and old alike. If you prefer a quiet stroll round a beautiful garden Herefordshire is an excellent choice as it offers some wonderful gardens within a short drive from the cottage.

The cottage is just 1 mile from the village of Madley which has a beautiful Church, two pubs and a super village shop. The city of Hereford is just 10 miles away and has good road and rail network serving it. The cottage is 45 minutes drive from Newport and an hour from Cardiff and Birmingham.
