Tip 1: Enter The Correct Location
When using the search bar on the homepage to search for cottages in a certain location, always make sure what you type matches one of the suggestions that appear underneath. If it often easier and quicker to click on one the predictive options underneath to ensure you enter the right location. For example, let’s say you wanted to take the family dolphin spotting in West Wales (Cardigan Bay is - particularly from April through to November - home to the UK’s biggest pod of dolphins) and you were searching for cottages in New Quay, West Wales. It is important to select the “New Quay/Ceinewydd, Ceredigion” suggestion rather than just typing “New Quay” and clicking the search button.
Tip 2: Use Filters
With over 10,000 self catering holiday cottages on our website, you may get overwhelmed with the choice on offer when you carry out some of the more popular searches, such as “Cornwall Cottages”, “Devon Cottages”, “Pet Friendly Cottages” and “Luxury Cottages”. It’s not unusual for these searches to return hundreds or even thousands of properties, far too many for you to trawl through one-by-one and take a closer look at. So be sure to use the menus, filters and tick boxes to refine your search results. This will make the cottages on display more suitable for your requirements.
For instance, if you know roughly when you would like to go away, enter some dates in the ‘When?’ box on the left hand side, or if you have a budget or a star rating in mind, you can filter the cottages in this way, too. If you’re bringing your pet along, tick the ‘pets accepted’ tick box to weed out cottages that don’t allow dogs.
Indeed, by using the tick boxes you can carry out some specific and intricate searches that precisely match your criteria. Let’s say you're after a ‘pet friendly log cabin with a hot tub with Wi-Fi that sleeps 4 people in the last week of September’. A difficult thing to search for – accommodation that matches all those requests? Nope, not if you use the menus and tick box options on the left hand side. Why not search for a holiday cottage now and try it for yourself?
