The house is situated on 5 levels. The lowest level (Suite 1) is suitable for many guests with walking impediments, it has the benefit of a small garden. The higher you go the more effort but the reward is better views!
The ground floor (Suite 2) is up five stone steps and has two bedrooms for up to 5 people. The upper levels have suites with either one or two double bedrooms via the original Victorian staircase.
Although in the centre of the town it is situated in a residential area away from the bustle of the bars and the nightlife. However, you can reach the bars and the popular restaurants within three or four minutes.
The promenade and beach is just across a car park and many of the rooms have sea views (subject to trees and leaf cover!).
The property has been graded Gold Commended by the local Hotel Association. It is about to be reviewed by the national accreditation system. The present standard provides cookers, fridges, microwaves in all suites. Largers suites have their own vacuums, irons and boards, smaller ones have easy access to such equipment. A washing machine and drier is available. A full selection of china, cutlery and cooking gear is available.
All bedrooms are set ready for guests with linen and douvets. Hand towels are provided but larger ones are available on request at a nominal charge.
You are welcomed with a refreshment tray and milk in the fridge.
Being an older house most suites have a bathroom and toilet situated in the suite. A few have a private facility a across a hallway. details are available on the web site.
All rooms are decorated in a style appropriate for an older house and there are many pictures showing towns and places built around the time of Royal Crescent.
Whilst Weston-super-Mare is a good town for family holidays it can also act as the centre for visiting many important cities (Bristol, Bath and Wells), towns (Shepton Mallet and the Bath and West Showground, Street and Clark's Village, Glastonbury) and interesting locations (Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Somerset levels).
Shopping is good in and around the town, often proven by the number of price labels and hangers left after guests have gone.The range of eateries is also increasing with a considerable number of ethnic restaurants from which to select.
A review of our guest book indicates that most people have a good time and the holiday at Martydale comes well up to the expectation. Many return year after year and several new guests have now booked their second trip of the year. We hope you will feel like visting us!
