Hiccombe House Cottage holiday flat occupies the whole first floor of an old stone-built cottage facing south down a sheltered and secluded mainly oakwooded valley on the south east of Exmoor. The owners, Alastair, a retired solicitor and Mary, a spare time potter live in the next house up the lane. The ground floor of the cottage is used as a pottery if ever they have the time to make a few pots!!
The cottage has a small south facing garden with furniture, and the views and the peace here are quite special. Off road parking for one car is avaiable opposite the cottage.
The accommodation features a double bedroom with wash basin, a sitting room with electirc fire, colour TV and southerly viows, a kitchen/diner with fridge, microwave, electirc cooker toaster etc. The bathroom has a bath and toilet.
This is perfect walking country where one can choose between the lush rolling countryside of West Somerset, the high heather covered moorland of Exmoor with its ancient oak and beech wooded combes, or the spectactular coastline to the north which features some of the highest cliffs in England. Exmoor's famous wild ponies and herds of wild Red Deer are almost sure to be seen during your stay.
Many interesting walks start from the cottage,for example the Haddeo Valley, Haddon Hill and Wimbleball Lake are within a mile or two.
The village of Brompton Regis is just over a mile up the lane, and here you will find the village "pub", and an ancient church. Dulverton is about 5 miles away where you will find a late opening supermarket, doctor, dentist,the Library, tearooms ,pubs etc. and an Exmoor Visitor Centre.
