Fawcett Mill was built in 1794 as the Mill Owners house for the adjacent Mill, and is situated in its own quiet unspoilt valley alongside a stream and next to the waterfall, in 7 acres of meadowland. There are patios and terraces leading down to the stream ,ideal for barbeques.
Fawcett is centrally located between the Lake District National Park and The Yorkshire Dales, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The house accommodates up to 16+4 in 7 bedrooms and is laid out on three floors. There are open log fires, a cast iron range,a sauna as well as full gas central heating. It is furnished in comfortable country style.Fawcett is ideal at any time of the year for Family Reunions, Friends Get Togethers, Special Birthday/Anniverary weeks/weekends.
The towns of Kendal, Penrith and Appleby [the old county town of Westmoreland] are all about 14 miles away. The village of Orton is 1 1/2 miles with The George Pub, chocolate factory/shop, post office and tea room and monthly farmers market. The Coast to Coast walk passes through the village. The Howgill Mountains to the south, are wonderful for walking and largely undiscovered. The local farmer Steve & Barbara Dunning, with land adjacent to Fawcett, sell their own lamb and beef from their own farmhouse
