Ellary Estate extends to approximately 15,000 acres in one of the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of Scotland. It occupies a large part of the peninsular formed between Lochs Caolisport and Loch Sween. Ellary Farm House is the Farm House of what used to be the "Home Farm" a small area which was primarily farmed to supply milk, eggs and other produce for the people who lived locally before modern transport made access to the shops more convenient. The adjacent farm steading is now storage of some items used on the Estate but is only rarely visited by farm and estate staff. The farm yard, which can be closed off, can be regarded as an area allocated to Ellary Farm House and the Sun Lounge at the front opens onto a lawn which also belongs to the house. There is a small wooded hill beyong the Farm House called the Farm Rock which is almost an island. The house itself is built on the isthmus joining the Farm Rock and on each side of the isthmus is a sandy bay. You are very close to the sea, and have lovely views both up, and down the loch. Ellary Farm House is the perfect choice for holidaymakers and families who want to experience life in the country
Indeed the waves breaking on the shore will probably make more noise than the occasional delivery van or motor. There are no lorries! There are also no street lights, and on a dark night, it gets very dark indeed! People who have stayed in Ellary Farm House have enjoyed the freedom to walk all over the estate. There are wooded glens and paths which take you out on to the open hill. You can go where you please, and it is hard to get lose as you are nearly always in sight of the sea. On your walks you can enjoy watching wild life including three distinct species of deer, otter, badger and a large number of smaller fauna including the red squirrel which can still be observed at Ellary. There are hundreds of different wild flowers, some quire rare, and more than seventy different species of birdlife have been observed at Ellary. Other families have used Ellary Farm House as a base from which to go boating which is ideal because it is so close to the sea. If you have a boat, you should not neglect to bring it with you, and boats of any size likely to be towed by a car can be launched from the beach closeby. Assistance is available from estate vehicles if nec
