The county also has a number of historical sites and museums such as Parke's Castle, Dromod Steam Railway, Sliabh A Iarainn Visitor Centre, Kinlough Folk Museum, Lough Rynn House as well as a number of abbeys. Other sites worth a visit also include the Glencar Waterfall, Corracloona Megalithic Tomb and Swan Island Open Farm.

Whilst Drumshanbo is close to the arigna Mountains so is ideal for walkers as is Manorhamilton. The area is also accessible as it is close to Sligo, Dublin and Shannon airports and has a number of railway stations.
