Bury Tower House is a beautiful renovated Georgian detached house lovingly restored to its original formal glory, situated in the Portsmouth area of Hampshire, being an ideal base for either sailing, a beach holiday with two local beaches or for exploring the Hampshire countryside.

The property gets its name from a tower above the eaves of the house which, it is said, was used to observe shipping in the Solent in the late 18th century. Since that time more houses have been built which now limits the view, yet the quirky room is a nice spot to take a book and read in peace above the rest of the house!

Bury Tower House has three double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms, family double bedroom with a single & double bed, (extra single beds also available)  four bathrooms and a separate cloakroom. The family bedroom and shower room can be found on the ground floor which has proved popular with our guests with limited mobility who appreciate not having to go up and down the stairs!

There is plenty of off road parking at the rear of the property for up to 4 cars with room for a boat & trailer as well.

A number of Travel Cots are available as well as high chairs,  and can easily be accommodated in the spacious bedrooms.  These are stored off site so as to not be in your way if you have no young children.

The ground floor is bright, airy and oak floored throughout with newly fitted carpets upstairs. There is a fully fitted modern kitchen which includes a Neff oven and a large 5 burner ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/ freezer. There is an additional fridge freezer in the utility/laundry room which conveniently has a door leading to the rear garden thus allowing both ease of laundry drying and the shedding of wet and dirty sports/sailing gear.

The dining room, living room and downstairs bedroom all have French doors leading out onto the large walled and secluded front and rears gardens, perfect to sit out on a summers evening.

The dining room has plenty of space to accommodate 12 people to dine comfortably at the large American oak dining table, with extra chairs available on request.

The sitting room has a period fireplace and three comfortable leather sofas and two large footstools, with ample room to relax, watch TV, play games or just sit and chat and in the winter to enjoy the lovely real fire.

Hampshire Area

Hampshire is a popular holiday area, with tourist attractions including its many seaside resorts, the maritime area in Portsmouth, and the motor museum at Beaulieu. The New Forest National Park lies within the borders, as does a large area of the South Downs, which is also scheduled to become a National Park. Hampshire has a long maritime history and two of England's largest ports lie on its coast. The county is famed as home of the writers Jane Austen and Charles Dickens.

Hampshire has a milder climate than most areas of the British Isles, being in the far south with the climate stabilising effect of the sea, but protected against the more extreme weather of the Atlantic coast.
