There are various antique shops, art galleries and craft centres on Anglesey, the local markets which take place weekly, let you experience the culture and tastes of Wales, which have helped form the Island.

If you are a lover of history, then Beaumaris castle surrounded by a water filled moat, with stunning mountain views dating back to the days of Edward I. The town amenities are all situated nearby.

The village of Rhosneigr on the west coast of Anglesey has diverse history, famous tales of smugglers, legendary ship wrecks from Edwardian days. These days it is more famous for its attractive vast sandy coast and water sports.

Anglesey is also the home to the port of Holyhead which is the main route across to Dublin for tourists.

Newborough, set in beautiful gardens including water features and plants. Stroll through this model village with famous local landmarks of Anglesey and a working railway which is improved yearly.

Copper Kingdom can be found at port Amlwch, this copper mine once dominated the copper industry, still standing are the Copper bins, chimneys and watch house. The visitors centre explores ship building industry and the harbor is a lovely place to rest and unwind.

Anglesey Sea Zoo, houses the largest aquarium in Wales, look out for the sea slugs and toddling seahorses.

Pili Palas Butterfly Farm, Menai Bridge, a great day out in all weathers. Experience butterflies flying around you in a lush steamy setting. Visit the tropical house and don’t forget pet corner!

Plas Newydd, home to the Marquess of Anglesey, set amongst spectacular scenery, housing a military museum, arboretum and access to a marine walk which runs alongside the Menai Strait.

For sailing or relaxing on the beach, then Treaddur bay, which is one of Anglesey’s best blue flag beaches is ideal for all ages. For sea fishing or angling then head to Amlwch of Beaumaris.

Beaumaris, also famous for its castle, which is one of the supreme castle in North Wales. The architect described this castle as the biggest and most ambitious castle he had ever designed.

Going across the Menai Strait which separates Anglesey from the North Wales mainland is the Snowdonia National park with the highest mountain range in Wales and England which is 1,085 metres high.

Not to be missed further along this coastline is the town of Llandudno with its Edwardian and Victorian architecture, long pebbled beach front with an array of shops, restaurants and pier. Take a cable car to the top of the Great Orme and be amazed by the views.

The small town of Amlwch, situated on the North Eastern corner of Anglesey has a wide range of activities for the holiday maker. From walks along the coast, fishing, golf or perhaps taking a day trip to Ireland by foot or car from Holyhead which is 15 miles away.

Moefre is a quaint fishing village with a long sea history, this area attracts many holiday makers to stay each year. It has a small sheltered shingle bay with pubs and cafes.

Should you wish to stay in a self catering cottage at Cemaes Bay, there is something here for everyone. It is the most northern village in Wales; its harbour looks out to the Irish Sea and is a popular place to stroll and sit. There are a number of shops, cafes and pubs to enjoy.

On the West coast of Anglesey you will find the holiday village of Rhosneigr with its wealth of history, sandy beach, large lake with bird life and miles of untouched countryside with superb views of Snowdonia. You will find many self catering holiday cottages in this area.

The market town of Beaumaris with its large medieval castle and soft pastel painted cottages is a great tourist location steeped in history. It makes the perfect base for a holiday cottage to travel to the mainland of Snowdonia or the rest of Anglesey.
