Show your Mum a little love with some of our ideas for Mother's Day that are much more creative than flowers.
Take your Mum to visit one of Britain’s famous Spa towns. Our choice is Buxton, Peak District.
It’s not surprising that Buxton is one of the Peak District’s most popular tourist destinations, with its famous Georgian architecture set in an impressive backdrop to a vibrant range of theatre and festivals.
Add to this the beautiful ornamental gardens, independent and high street shopping, a huge choice of cafes, bars and restaurants, and you begin to see why it is so popular.
Buxton is known as the Gateway to the Peak District, and it’s a great base for all that the national park has to offer, but there’s so much going on in the town itself that you might find yourself hard pressed to leave.
Take your Mum and shop until you both drop. Our choice is Bluewater Shopping Centre, Kent.
On the 16th March, 1999, Bluewater opened its doors to shoppers to become Europe's largest retail and leisure complex. The site has over 300 shops, restauraunts, cinema, picnic space and even boating lakes.
Take in a movie, eat and drink in the multitude of bars and restaurants, or just shop 'til you and your Mum drop. Bluewater is yours to explore.
Take your Mum and go thrill seeking at a theme park! Our choice Drayton Manor, Tamworth.
Drayton Manor is a theme park packed with a host of great rides and attractions. It is set in 280 acres of lakes and parkland.
Drayton Manor features some of the biggest, wettest and scariest rides around!
Shockwave is Europe’s only stand up roller coaster, Stormforce 10 is ‘the best water ride in the country’ (Daily Express) and Maelstrom is the only gyro swing to make you face outwards! The incredible G-Force is a roller coaster ride like you’ve never had before! This £3 million ride takes terrified thrillseekers through a series of high banked twists and turns at speeds of up to 70 kph at 4.3 Gs, whilst hanging by the hip!
Drayton Manor Zoo is also home to over a hundred species from throughout the world – plus Dinosaurland, museums, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants – and much more! It’s a fantastic fun-filled day for everyone!
Take your Mum on a relaxing theatre break. Our choice is Salisbury playhouse, Wiltshire.
Salisbury Playhouse is one of Britain’s leading producing theatres, with a national reputation for home grown work of the highest quality that attracts audiences from across Wiltshire, Dorset and beyond.
Set close to Salisbury’s magnificent Cathedral which boasts the tallest spire in England, and supplies an immediate sense of drama in the area. It is not far from the cathedral close where you can walk the cobbled streets steeped in history before sitting down and enjoying what the theatre has to offer.
