Wales has about 400 castles, of which over 100 are still standing. They are beautifully preserved monuments in the kind of surroundings that make a visit an absolute necessity.

Beaumaris Castle was built in 1295, and was the last and largest to be built by Kind Edward the I with 2,600 men engaged in the building work. The castle has a beautiful moat that you cross over to get into the castle as its first line of defence. It is very beautiful to visit today and in the warmer season often holds events for families.
